DENVER – An early morning blaze shut down one of Denver’s most iconic 24-hour restaurants Sunday.
Fire crews arrived at the Denver Diner at Speer Boulevard and Colfax Avenue about 1:30 a.m., officials said. A fire had begun in the kitchen and spread to the roof, sending customers and workers fleeing into the night.
Firefighters were able to control the fire within about 20 minutes. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and were hospitalized, the Denver Fire Department said. No one else was reported hurt.
The diner remained closed Sunday afternoon.
