BOULDER, Colo. — Five people, many of whom worked at a Boulder software company, were killed or seriously hurt in a car crash in South Africa over the weekend.

The crash, according to the local South African media, occurred near the town of Mtubatuba on the country’s coast. Scott Reneau and Trudy Dietzen, both identified as Colorado residents, are reported to have died in the crash and three others remain in the hospital.

“Its just that I want to be there for her and it’s hard,” said Amber Adams, the daughter of a crash victim who remains hospitalized in Africa.

The Adams family is in the process of trying to raise money to travel to South Africa as soon as possible. The family has had to face several hurdles including obtaining medical information and applying for emergency passports.

“We don’t know when she’s going to come home it could be two weeks, it could be a month.” said Adams in an interview with FOX31 Denver on Monday.
