LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Lakewood police and the FBI are searching for two men wearing masks from the movie “Scream” who they said robbed a U.S. Bank at gunpoint Wednesday morning.
It happened at 1414 Carr St. about 9:10 a.m. Two men wearing “Scream” masks shoved guns in the faces of bank tellers, threatened to kill them, robbed the bank and fled in a stolen Jeep, the FBI Denver Division said.
The suspects abandoned the stolen Jeep near 14th Avenue and Garrison Street, then fled in a black SUV. One of the bank tellers went to the hospital with minor injuries, the FBI said.
Lakewood police set up a perimeter in the area and used K-9s to search for the men to no avail.
The FBI’s Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force is looking for the robbers. They are described as two males of unknown race, both around 6-foot weighing around 180 pounds, possibly in their late 20s. One suspect was wearing a sweatshirt that said “Mexico.”

The FBI believes another incident Wednesday morning might have been related to the bank robbery. A man wearing a skeleton mask and brandishing a gun walked into a 7-11 at 1110 S. Pierce St. in Lakewood, demanded everyone get on the floor, then fired two shots into a wall. No one was injured.
Task force officers said the robber might have been trying to distract police from responding to the call at the bank, which was happening about the same time.
Anyone with information about either case is asked to call Denver Metro Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. The suspects are considered armed and dangerous, and should not be approached.
