Colorado requires nail technicians to be licensed and those licenses be prominently displayed.

Is the Shop Clean?
What is the overall appearance of the shop?  Is the floor swept? Are dirty linens visible? Are clean items stored separately from dirty ones?  Is there adequate ventilation?

No Scrub Down
Check how the workers clean up after previous customers.  The technicians should wash their hands before and after working a client. Do technicians wear gloves and change gloves between clients?

Reusing Implements
Are the professionals properly cleaning and disinfecting instruments after every client? Are single use items like emery boards, cotton pads and nail buffers thrown away after every client?

Cutting, Clipping and Slicing
Colorado does not permit the use of credo blades or callus cutters.

Remember NO SHAVING 24 hours before getting a pedicure.  Shaving opens your pores to the possibility of infection.
