AURORA, Colo. — Extra security was in place Thursday at Rangeview High School after reports of a threat against a teacher at the school.

The Aurora Police Department and Aurora Public Schools have made it clear the threat is not credible, but police had extra security in place on campus as a precaution.

According to The Denver Post, police said an unidentified person made the alleged threats. That person reported hacked into the teacher’s email to make the threat.

Word of the threat spread quickly on social media among students, parents and teachers. One parent maintained she will not send her children to the school on Thursday.

There have also been reports that some teachers are concerned about safety at the school and might conduct a sickout. The school has said it takes any possible threat very seriously, and the safety of students and staff is the top priority.

The school will be open and classes will begin as usual at 7:30 a.m.
