LOVELAND, Colo. — The multiagency task force that was set up after random shooting incidents in northern Colorado since April released the sketch of a pickup truck Tuesday it said is a vehicle of interest to a pair of shootings in Loveland earlier this month.

The task force said a person recently reported they were shot at on the night of June 3 near Denver Avenue and East Eisenhower Boulevard in Loveland.

That was about two miles from where Bill Connole was shot and killed at East First Street and St. Louis Avenue later that night. The person shot at was not injured.

Investigators said the sketch of the pickup was based on several interviews and canvasses, and believe it is connected to the June 3 shootings.

The truck is described as a 1970’s full-size single cab Chevrolet or GMC pickup that that is faded orange in color with a full-size bed. It’s believed to be a 1973 to 1979 model GM based on the round headlight shape. It has black primer on the driver’s side body.

A northern Colorado task force released a sketch of pickup it says is a vehicle of interest in connection to a string of random shootings in the area.

Anyone who sees this truck is asked to get a license plate number if possible, note the location and time that it was seen and any driver or occupants inside the vehicle.

If you are someone or if you know of someone who owns a truck matching this description, police also ask that you call and give that information, according to Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith.

The task force previously linked the shootings of Milliken woman Cori Romero on Interstate 25 in April and Windsor cyclist John Jacoby last month. Romero was shot in the neck and is recovering. Jacoby was shot and killed while he rode his bike near Windsor.

The task force has not linked the two Loveland shootings with those of Romero and Jacoby.

For the next couple weeks, Steve Heil’s office will be an exposed, open tent, where outside on June 3, someone driving by fired a gun at a stranger. He will sell fireworks at Eisenhower and Denver until July 4.

“Somebody could drive by on the road and shoot in my tent. I guess I never thought of that possibility before,” Heil said.

“We have the homicide in Loveland. This most recent report on the same night. Investigators believe those two incidents are likely linked,” said David Moore, spokesman with the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.

Regarding the sketch of the vehicle, “Pay special attention to the round headlights,” Moore said at a news conference.

It’s something Spencer Bradley will pay attention to.

“Maybe once people see it, they’ll keep an eye out,” he said.

And it keeps his hopes up that the unknown shooter’s freedom will soon be over.

Anyone with information about the old pickup truck or any of the shootings is asked to call the task force tip line at 970-498-5595 or email at taskforce@larimer.org. The FBI is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest, prosecution and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for the crimes.
