CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colo. –One person died and three others were hurt in a lightning strike on Mt. Yale in Chaffee County Friday afternoon.
The Chaffee County undersheriff said a 31-year-old woman died. A 32-year-old man was airlifted to Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. He was in stable condition Friday night. Two other people who were hit were treated and released on the scene.
Emergency calls came in from people nearby and search-and-rescue crews were dispatched to the scene around 1:30 p.m.
The area is about 11 miles west of Buena Vista.
